The Sailing Academy at The Pearl Island is a joint initiative by UDC and Corinthia Yacht Club, combining world-class sailing education with Qatar’s proud maritime heritage.

Located at Porto Arabia marina, the Sailing Academy offers modern facilities and a full range of courses for all ages and skill levels, including school programs, holiday camps, private coaching, and corporate regattas. Led by certified instructors, each course blends theory with hands-on sailing. Open to members, non-members, schools, and businesses, the Sailing Academy inspires a new generation to unlock the sea.

Our fleet proudly features the RS Zest dinghies — light, stable, and effortlessly responsive. Ideal for those taking their very first steps on the water, they also offer the agility and performance needed to advance toward refined, high-level sailing.
Guided by our comprehensive training program, each sailor can chart a course from essential skills to a standard of excellence that opens the horizon to competitive sailing.
Soon, our fleet will welcome the RS CAT 16 (catamarans) — sleek, more technical craft designed to match our ambitions. These versatile vessels will not only elevate the sailing experience but also allow the formation of dynamic double crews, welcoming sailors of every age, from children to seasoned adults.

At the Sailing Academy, every journey begins with the right boat. Our RS Zest dinghies are light, stable, and highly responsive, perfect for first-time sailors, yet agile enough to support growth toward advanced, high-performance sailing.

From beginner lessons to advanced training, the Sailing Academy provides a supportive and structured environment where members can build confidence, master new skills, and push their limits on the water.
Coaching
Here, both members and visiting sailors can benefit from personalized coaching designed to sharpen skills, build confidence, and prepare for regattas, with the creation of The Corinthia Youth Cup for the kids, and the National Corinthia Trophy
Individual Coaching and Boat Rental
At Sailing Academy participants, and visiting sailors alike can benefit from individual coaching to refine their skills and prepare for regattas. Members enjoy discounted boat rentals to explore the open sea at their own peace.
Team Building & Events
Corporate Team-Building Regattas
Tailored for businesses and organizations, these events bring teams together in a competitive yet supportive environment, where participants must work collaboratively to navigate and race their boats. These regattas focus on enhancing communication, trust, and collaboration among team members.
Sailing Challenges & Competitions

"Madeleine Sassy is a French professional sailor and instructor with international racing experience. Introduced to sailing at a young age by her father and brother, she soon turned her passion into competition — a way to challenge herself and grow. Those early years taught her the importance of perseverance, a value she now shares with her students. Passionate and caring, she loves guiding children and adults to discover sailing with confidence, joy, and determination".
M. Laurids Nitsche
"Laurids, 25 years old, is from Bavaria, Germany. Growing up on an island in Germany’s largest lake, he was surrounded by water every day. He has been sailing since the age of seven and later worked as a professional boatbuilder in various shipyards, where he also began teaching sailing alongside his craft. Passionate about his work, Laurids finds great joy in seeing people of all ages discover sailing for themselves. He takes pride in supporting and guiding others on their sailing journey, helping them develop their skills and grow with confidence".
